Havas Sports have made a top level appointment by bringing Tim Howland onto their board in the UK, joining Keith Impey and Marcus Wight.

Howland joins to head up the strategic approach to all clients and will be responsible for developing the global offer to brands working closely with the Havas Sports and Entertainment global team in Paris. He will also be focusing on London 2012.

Howland said, "Havas is a really exciting group. The sports and entertainment network is expanding and we are building a really compelling integrated offer for clients. We are very focused on London 2012 and the opportunities that the Olympics bring to the market. Our Olympic pedigree is very strong having worked for brands at both the summer and winter Games since 1992, so I am looking forward to working with this team."

To tap into the depth of expertise Havas offers in London, and fuel new business, Havas Sports has just moved into the same building as sister company Cake Group. "This is very helpful," Howland said, "Whilst the agencies are independent we can collaborate to bring the right skill sets together for clients."

Howland added, "I will be working very closely with Alastair McDonald who heads up the Havas Sports and Entertainment Insight team. Their analysis and strategic advice to clients has made a big impact on Havas Sports since they joined in June of last year. In the current marketplace clients are rightly more cautious and really need to be able to evaluate and measure any investment into sport. The Havas Sports and Entertainment Insight team can provide this and we can then advise clients on implementation, whether that be through live, experiential, digital, PR or other platforms."
