Havas Sports & Entertainment, the global sports and entertainment communication network of Havas Media, were appointed by the ICC to assist with the management of the LG ICC Awards 2009 ceremony that took place in Johannesburg on 1st October.

Havas Sports & Entertainment were appointed in August by the ICC to manage the LG ICC Awards 2009 in association with FICA, for the first time since the annual ceremony began in 2004. With the ICC celebrating a 100 years involvement in cricket this year, the success of the LG ICC Awards was particularly important to the ICC centenary celebrations.

"We managed everything from staging, technical, decor and entertainment through to stage directing the glamorous show which was enjoyed by the 320 high profile guests, celebrities and players along with and 100 International media that attended the globally broadcasted awards celebration" said Brad Jansen Managing Director Havas Sports & Entertainment South Africa.

The annual LG ICC Awards celebrates the game's heroes and role models, and each year they recognise the major individual and team achievements in world cricket.

Now in its sixth year, the LG ICC Awards celebrate eight individual awards, including the prestigious Sir Garfield Sobers Trophy for the ICC Cricketer of the Year which was awarded to Mitchell Johnson.

The LG ICC Awards 2009 also saw the introduction of five new inductees, including Steve Waugh and Wasim Akram, into the ICC Cricket Hall of Fame which was introduced at the start of 2009 in honour of the ICC centenary.

"The LG ICC Awards had a great feel and look to them this year thanks in no small part to the hard work and vision of Havas Sports. The awards are the Oscars of cricket and a great opportunity to acknowledge the amazing performances of the best players and officials in the world," said a spokesman from the ICC.
